Last week we fostered a couple of orphan kittens (we started out with 3 but after a few hours only had 2). Bottle feeding, loads of laundry, bottle making...the works! Then they went to another foster home for Saturday because I was going to be out of town and it was too hot of a day for them to come with me. The other foster home had a dog that "adopted" them and cuddled with them. I figured the warmth from a real animal instead of a hot water bottle was better for them so they stayed put. Boy was my daughter upset! haha. But it's for the better as she didn't let them sleep very much.
Last night we got a mama cat and her 5 kittens to foster! They're about 7 days old, their eyes still not open. No shortage of kittens around our house! Mama is soooo sweet. But super skinny. I'll be picking up kitten food so we can get some meat on her bones. Tried to feed her Mammalac (feline milk replacement) but I'm not sure if that upset her or maybe her nerves got to her....but she was in the kitty litter box all. night. long.
Things are busy in our house! I have realized that I really don't miss cleaning kitty litter boxes but I'm ok with doing it knowing it's temporary.
Will post pictures of our new family members later.

30 Day Shred Dead
So a few evenings ago I went to start my 30 Day Shred DVD. Yea. No Go. It's Dead.
When you play it...it goes through the introduction and then goes to the menu. You can select ANYTHING off of the menu and it plays the introduction again and goes back to the menu. It's like there's no content except the introduction on it. Boo-hoo!
So I request a replacement from amazon.ca and they reply with "due to availability of this product. Your item will ship anytime between May 25th and June 8th". OMG! Are you serious?!?!?!?! I was a little bummed out about not starting the shred on the 1st of May. Hmmm. Now I may have gotten my wish and will be able to start it on June 1st. This sucks!
Oh well. I guess I do other things until the new one comes in the mail.
Until then......No Shred news from me!

Why I'm Doing This
I wanted to type this out to be able to come back here and read it.
This post was inspired by Prior Fat Girl.
I always knew why I have dealt with a weight issue but I have suppressed that reason with food & other stuff to the point of where I thought I didn't know my reason behind this issue (does that make sense?).
I was a 6 week old baby who was waiting for her "forever family". The first six weeks were spent in the Children's Hospital because of health problems (jaundice & a heart murmur, I believe). So when I was brought into my current family, I was the black sheep according to my paternal grandmother (my maternal grandparents had already passed on). And she let me know about it. She would say mean things to me. I would tell my parents. My parents advised me that I wasn't allowed to say anything. My mom is all about "don't make waves -- we're the perfect family". So I ate. I never had to see my grandma very much but I would hear her words every. single. day. And I started to believe them. So I ate some more. The thought of family gatherings would stress me out. So I'd eat. Then the family gatherings would arrive. And I'd eat. I turned to food because my dad "wouldn't hear of it" when I'd complain about his mother. The countdown was on until my 18th birthday when I would "let her have it". Unfortunately, that never happened. I chickened out. But I did get the nerve when I turned 24. I wrote her a letter and told her how I felt. I still hear her mean words -- the insults about my weight, about my lack of marital status, about having a child out of wedlock, about....about....about....
I have to come above and beyond those words that I hear in my head everyday. I'm determined to get thin & healthy. I can't wait for the day to show up in my thin new body and tell my grandma off in front of the whole family. Yes, that sounds childish but, damnit, I hurt!
As for this week. I still haven't started the 30 Day shred. I'm disappointed about that. But I have been eating well!! It's just been an abnormal & crazy week. I'll be working the company's booth at the Trade Show all weekend long. This will be the first time I have wished for a weekend to pass by as fast as it can.
