2009

I am excited for the fresh start of a New Year. I'm inviting 2009 to arrive! I have no clue why I am excited for this year but I shall just embrace it.

This time last year was "just another year" and I definately just went through the motions of 2008. It feels different 12 months later.

I'm trying to "find myself". I'm going to read what Eckart Tolle has to say. I'm going to look into meditating and look after ME ....and my daughter.

I took this cool little quiz online & felt it appropriate to post here. It's about me and since I'm posting it, I kind of agree with it.

Your Life Path Number is 5

Your purpose in life is to life freely and collect experiences.

You love life - new adventures, new people, new ideas.

You are very curious, and you crave novelty in all forms.

You tend to make friends easily, and you enjoy the company of all types of people.

In love, you are fun and even a bit intoxicating. But you won't stick around for long.

You are impulsive and spontaneous - which sometimes leads you to do things you regret.

Sometimes you can be overindulgent with food, sex, or drugs.

You have many talents, so many that you are often scattered and unfocused.

My New Year's Resolution

is to change! There are so many things I would like to change. Like my outside appearance, change the fact I am now all too familar with stress (I am truly sick of being self-employed but I must stay this way to provide a life for myself & my daughter), to help my business succeed by remaining the only employee & further dedicating myself to the business.

The last month or two have been stressful with having to lay off an employee, being a single mom with a brand new house & my business slowing down for the winter (which it always does but I don't seem to have any kind of savings in which I have had the last two winters) -- stupid economy!

And three things are weighing quite heavily on my mind lately:

1) My daughter complained out of frustration that I never play with her & she's right. I'm so busy with keeping the workings of a business going, and housekeeping (because a clean house makes me a happy person!) and and and. How I would love to hand a "to-do" list to a man and walk off to play with my daughter. In the New Year, I will make appointments for regular exercise and regular play with my daughter.

2) I was shopping in Costco yesterday and my jeans split. Damn that peanut butter that I went to pick up when this happened! LOL. It was just a split in the thigh, bless friction & fat thighs! I promised myself to not buy another pair of jeans until I lost weight and could buy a SMALLER size. I guess I'm sweatpants & dresspants bound until I can buy new jeans. Talk about motivation!

3) Bills & everything to do with money. I wish my parents had taught me more about money when I was younger, but they didn't and now I have to get over it. On January 1st, my credit cards are getting the old "chop chop". In 2009, I will get rid of credit card debt & get rid of my vehicle payment. I'm so done with debt! All I will have left is a mortgage payment, insurance payments & utilities. As for my house, I would love to sell it in 5-7 years and downsize to a house in which I have no mortgage and live a simple life.

I had no intention of making a New Years resolution until I read the latest (well, January 2009 issue) O magazine.

It's time to get happy, debt free, de-stress & enjoy our families!
That's what 2009 will be all about for me.

Skipping Rope

I read somewhere (I think it was The Weigh We Were) that skipping rope is the ultimate exercise. Hmmmm, really? So I decided to read up on it. Here are some interesting facts:

* A 10 minute session will burn approximately (depending on your weight and exertion level) 70 - 110 calories. BUT......1 hour of skipping will burn between 600 - 900 calories. WOW!

* Skipping at a rate of 120 turns a minute would be around the same as running at 6 miles per hour.

* Skipping 2-5 minutes per day will help prevent osteoporosis.

* Skipping is an extremely efficient way of building bones and toning thighs, hips, calves, and gluteus maximus (bottom). The upper body is also given a pretty intense workout.

* Professional Football players, boxers, swimmers, skiers, tennis players, martial artists, rugby players and many more, enjoy the benefits of skipping as part of their daily workout routine to improve stamina, footwork skills, muscle tone and to lose weight.

I got the above information from Skip-Hop.

Good thing I bought a skipping rope the other day at Wal-Mart. I'll have to try it tonight. I used to love skipping rope. I wonder if I still do?

Bailey's & Coffee

...is NEVER good for a diet!! But it was sooooooooo cold this weekend. It was -32 for most of the weekend and it's STILL that cold. Brrr.

Last week was not a good week. I was so not in the diet mood. I didn't do too bad at maintaining my weight (yay!). Friday I avoided the scale. And then threw EVERYTHING out the window for the weekend. I have a goal in mind and my "goal date" for this mini goal is Christmas Eve. I have to get my butt in motion! I'm putting myself on a strict exercise schedule & I'm very thankful that Christmas Eve is only 9 days away! Think I can lose 10.2 pounds in 9 days?? haha. Of course I can since most of that is just water retention anyway! If I wasn't retaining then it would be impossible.

I'm off to get my water in!

Noticed!!

A client made one simple comment to me today that just totally made my Wednesday. She said, "Wow, you look good today, your program must be going well for you!"

Yes! And it's NOT weight loss she's noticed (because really, you can't notice a 3 pound loss on my body), she noticed what Pilates must be doing to my body! That's all I can think of. I didn't buy new clothes. I did my makeup the same. Did my hair the same. Wore the same shoes. Didn't buy a new bra or underwear. Yes yes yes.

On that note. I'm doing 20 mins of Pilates tonight.
xo

Anything Else You Want To Know?

I love my clients but sometimes you get the odd one that just wants to know TOO much! Just like my conversation I had with one of them this morning...

Client: "So what are you buying your husband for Christmas?"
Me: "Umm, I don't have a husband."
Client: "Oh, boyfriend?"
Me: "Mmmm, No boyfriend."
Client: "Significant Other?"
(At this time I'm sure she's thinking I'm a muff diver!...err, lesbian. LOL)
Me: "Don't have one of those either. It's really just me & my daughter and we're both happy with that."
(Okay so that's a little white lie but she doesn't need to know EVERYTHING!)
Client: "So where did he go?"
Me: "I killed him." LOL.
Client: [blank look with a little mix of fear on her face]
Me: "Umm, I guess he just decided he didn't want to be a father?"
(Are you serious? Am I really having this conversation with you?)

I am one of those people who would just rather keep my personal life to myself and act happy when really I'm not. It's not about me...it's about them! Why do they want to know these things?? Grrrr.

That's my rant for today.

Fess Up

The weekends kill me! Okay, not really, because I'm still here.

But really. I get totally thrown off by the weekends. And this past weekend was no exception. I fell off the wagon. Gained a little bit (2.6 pounds to be exact but lost 0.6 this morning but still retaining water). But more importantly fell off my exercise wagon. I realize I am one of those people who will NOT lose weight unless I exercise.

I'm crawling back on right now!
I'm waking up tomorrow at 6am to exercise.
I'm going to do Pilates tonight.

Monday...again.

And so Monday is here again.

I had a good weekend. Did 5 miles on Saturday morning. Went for ladies lunch with my mom, my daughter and some of my mom's family. Had the Parade of Lights on Saturday night. Was on the float with the B94 radio station helping to hold up the guy in the inflatable bee costume. That was fun...and cold. Then we took apart the float, met up with some people (the people we had the Christmas get together with last weekend) and headed back to someone's house until about 2am. I didn't drink. I was still traumatized from last weekend. Now someone from the group got this great idea to get together atleast once a month at someone else's house every time. Very cool idea.

Weight wise I didn't do too well. Made good choices when we went out for lunch on Saturday. But I was down on my water & am retaining water this morning (maybe that's why I had a gain of 2.6 pounds). Saturday evening there wasn't anything healthy so I picked on a few bad things but didn't go overboard. This morning I woke up at 2am almost convinced it was time to get up, it wasn't. So I tossed and turned and by the time it was time to get up, I didn't. So I didn't exercise this morning. Better luck tomorrow morning, I'll just have to be extra careful and make wise food choices today.

I'm off to guzzle some water!

Motivation

Wow, look at that ticker!! 5 pounds lost only another 5 pounds before the end of December! Totally attainable! Now I really feel guilty for skipping my workout this morning but I WILL do it tonight. Makes me remember what someone told me, "You will NEVER regret exercising but you WILL regret not exercising!" They were so right.

And last night I fell asleep with Emily at 9pm...I woke up at 11:00pm and realized I didn't do Pilates yet. I got up and promptly went to the living room for a 20 minute session before it got any closer to midnight. I'm so happy I didn't break my streak!

For once, I feel like I have motivation surrounding me. Not only for an event in February where I want to catch the eye of a guy but for my self-esteem and to gain control. Here are a couple sites that have contributed to some of my motivation as well:

Tuesday - 3 miles (WATP) & 28 mins Pilates

Weekend & Fitness Goals

The weekend was great! My best friend had a get together with some friends and invited her crush. It was a great time. I'm not so sure he's crushing on her too, I'm afraid (after hearing a few people talk at this party) that this is going to backfire as he expressed interest in me to someone else. Awkward! Anyways, I had plans of having one drink and not eating a whole lot. Well, I didn't eat a whole lot but I sure drank a whole lot! And ended up very hungover yesterday. I don't think I felt normal until about 10pm last night. Blah!

Last night I got up off the couch and did 20 minutes of Pilates. I'm going to start a Pilates streak, after reading this quote...

“In ten sessions you will feel the difference. In twenty you will see the difference, and in thirty you will have a whole new body.” - Joseph H. Pilates

I'm going to streak for 30 days (December 29) and then take a picture! We'll see if Joseph Pilates knew what he was talking about. And then I also got up this morning at 6am and exercised to one of my Walk Away The Pounds DVD's. Love it! I'm feeling great! It totally doesn't feel like a Monday. Maybe it's because of my exercising or maybe because I don't have to work tomorrow? Who knows!

Organized Basement!

Last weekend I did ALOT of cleaning and organizing.
I went through boxes that have been packed for 7 years (from when I lived with my brother) and had other boxes that had been packed for 3 years (from my previous live-in relationship) all of which has been stuffed in a storage locker until my house was built. I have about 5 more boxes to go through but they are small boxes. Thank goodness. Also have to take my hundreds of empty boxes to the recycle center.

I also cleaned and organized Emily's room. Now it's clean and she's proud of it so it has been staying clean. I always tell her that everything needs a home, if it doesn't have a home, throw it out!

This weekend I think I'll tackle the job of insulating the spaces between the joists in the basement. I'm going to use styrofoam insulation though. Never done this before but it can't be THAT hard! Then after I get that done, I'll have to use spray insulation around the pipes and stuff to seal it all up. Will definately have to post pictures of this mess! hahaha. It doesn't need to look beautiful because it'll be covered up eventually! I think I also have a few things that need to be hung on walls (a job I hate).

I also have a Christmas party to attend this Saturday at my friends house. Being the anti-social person I am, I don't want to go but I know I'll have a good time if I do.

I guess I'll have to take a trip to the Hardware store after work!

Rich

Emily & I were looking out our front window this morning and I said to her,

"Isn't that cool, someone else is building a house that looks like ours. That means they like our house." (The white house in the picture below)

Emily looks out to all the big houses next to the one I was talking about and says,

"And those people built big houses because they are rich."

There are super huge houses next to the house I was talking about. I also explained to her that we have more house then we know what to do with. I informed her that when we get the basement finished (we have the drywall and construction is set to start soon!) we could each have our own living room (there will be 2 in the house), we can each have our own bathroom & we can each have 2 bedrooms to ourselves. She was totally amazed that just because we live in a "small" house (we have 2 floors at 1018 sq/ft each) doesn't mean we're poor and someone else who has a huge house doesn't mean they're rich. The whole time I actually was thinking to myself how I'll probably retire before the "rich" people anyways. And this one is our house...

My goal has been trying to teach Emily that you can be rich without having a ton of money.

If you have friends & family you are rich.
If you have a warm house to live in you are rich.
If you have food on the table you are rich.
If you have clothes on your body you are rich.
If you get a good education you are rich.

And, my friends, if that's all it takes -- I am a millionaire!

Renovations

After looking at the pictures of Layla's New House & Old House...I'm wishing I had renovations to do. I'm almost regretting building a brand new house. With a brand new one, you don't want to paint the kitchen cabinets or paint a wall a different color. All I have left to do in my house is finish the basement and that's not near as fun as renovating. Maybe in my next house.

Check out the Lettered Cottage.

Bedroom Ideas

Get your head out of the gutter. I mean bedroom decor ideas!
Wouldn't this bed look great...

in my bedroom??

I would love to have a real wood bedroom set but I have a antique rocking chair (the one in the picture) and an antique dresser (not shown but might post a picture of it here sometime) in my bedroom that has been in the family for many years and I want the dresser & rocking chair to get most of the attention when you walk into the bedroom.

My little search on the Costco website might have gotten me into a little trouble with my pocketbook. I'll have to think about this purchase for a little while. haha.

Let It Snow!

So here we are again...12 days later with snow on the ground again. I hope it stays this time. It looks so beautiful!! Having no snow on the ground this time of year makes it really hard to get into the Christmas spirit.

I would love to take a picture of the beauty of pure white snow but I don't have a camera. Thanks to a certain Little Miss...my camera is being repaired at the Pentax Repair Centre in another city about 3 hours away. I'll have it soon though.

I think I might start dragging some Christmas stuff out today. Yay!!

Single

That word hasn't bothered me until now.

Friday night Emily and I were laying in my bed (she gets to sleep with me when there's no school the next day) about to go to sleep and I hear she starts crying. I was like "What's wrong?" and she's like, "You're never going to get married and I'm never going to get a daddy". My heart sank.

How do you tell a little girl that it was never your intention to bring her into this world without a daddy. How do you explain that you so desperately wanted to work things out and be a family but he didn't and he walked away.

She has created her own image of her father. And it's the truth. He's not much of a father. He doesn't come around regularly, only when it's convenient for him. And she can feel he doesn't have the "daddy touch".

How do you also explain that mommy isn't at the right time of her life to be marrying anyone right now. I struggle with weight issues which I don't like myself for. How can I expect anyone to love me if I don't love myself? I'm hoping that as I shed the weight my self-confidence will come and I will become a happier person because I'll love myself. That's when I'll be ready to love someone else.

All I can do right now is wipe her tears. And it breaks my heart.

A-Okay!

Parent/Teacher interviews went well last night. I spoke with both of her teachers, her grade 1 teacher & her ELI (Early Literacy Intervention) teacher. In May of this year (which would have been Kindergarten) she was below average in Phonics, as of September of this year (grade 1) she was above average in Phonics. Woohoo!! I hope that all of our hard work at home continues to pay off. I just need to get into a homework routine and start incorporating our Hooked on Phonics program.

This morning we woke up to a very thick frost and a nice blanket of fog...beautiful!! I loved it. So picture perfect. The frost made up for our snow melting. Oh well.

I have sooooooooo much to do today at work and I'm really procrastinating. But that's my usual thing on Thursdays, I start losing steam by this time during the week. But I'll sip my Joe and cruise on the internet before I get my @$$ in gear.

Happy Thursday!

Let It Snow...Let It Snow...

I woke up to snow this morning!! I guess that gives me permission to start dragging the Christmas stuff out soon. Looking out my window and seeing a nice blanket of white just makes me feel so warm & cozy. My daughter was unbelievably excited this morning to see the white stuff had come to visit.

So...the other day when I was going through pictures...I found a picture of myself. I couldn't believe I could see my collarbones in the picture (this is a big deal to me for some reason). So that is my new inspirational pic because, I admit, I have put on a few pounds since this picture was taken. I even added "Weight Diary" to my new Palm Pilot to keep track of my weight & added in Christmas Eve as my goal date. This is the picture...

Oh, and Parent/Teacher Interviews are tonight. They're doing something different this year. You get the report card AND the interview at the same time. I think I was more calm about P/T interviews when I was a student than I am now as a parent. Strange!

On that note, I'm off to go fill my time (4 hours to be exact) before I head outta here for home.

Good Morning Monday!

The Halloween candy has been stashed. I'm so sick of it! And my journey to finishing another goal is just beginning.

My weight loss journey. I've done this a million times before & I don't want to "start" this journey again. I've dusted off my G.I. Diet book and I'm a follower. This morning marks my 3rd week of exercising with a friend of mine every morning at 6am. We work out together Monday - Friday and are on our own for Saturday & Sunday. This Saturday I spent some quality time with my treadmill and Sunday I did heavy duty house cleaning, I even broke a sweat!

So this morning I have packed my lunch (and what a good one it is!) and have replaced my morning coffee/cream with Green Tea with a packet of Stevia (it's like Splenda but alot more natural and can be purchased at Health Food Stores). It's been proven that having 3 cups of Green Tea per day will help to boost your metabolism as well as give your system a ton of antioxidants (ya know, our anti-aging friends!).

I cleaned out my closets and organized one. I still have yet to organize the other one but I need to get a few more hangers and stuff before I can do that.

I hope today goes by fast!
I've also got my daily dose of motivation from www.theweighwewere.com

Working On A Goal

I have some housework to do. And then I'm going to work on a goal.
I'm going to tackle my closets today. Which will then lead me to start working on the basement (gotta love having an unfinished basement and boxes that you haven't opened in 3 or more years).
Hi Ho...Hi Ho...off to work I go!

A Whole Lotta Trick & Tons of Treat!

After carving our pumpkin and taking a few pictures of it...my camera refused to work and ended up having to send it away to a repair shop (thankfully, my dad did get pictures of Emily in her costume) -- TRICK

What's a Halloween night without phoning the police?? Some @$$ setting off fireworks across the street from my house on the front lawn of my neighbours house...and 2 feet from the house on the side. I had 2 kids with me (Emily and her friend Madison) freaking out!! I was pretty scared because this middle aged man was wearing a costume and was acting really odd. I phoned it in. A peace officer arrived first while I was on the phone with the police officer (yes, there is a difference and we have both!). The police officer recommended that I tell the peace officer that I phoned in the complaint. I did. The firework guy then proceeded to confront me saying he didn't know it was illegal (really? who does NOT know that is illegal?) and that he was setting them off at the residence of his boss (I don't care whos house it is) and then told me that he builds the houses around here and that he even built my house (think I care???). I told him tonight was not the night, it was illegal and that there were children EVERYWHERE and to use his head (and no, I was not that calm about it -- I got the message across). A phone call about half an hour later from the police officer revealed that they did not charge him because they thought he was genuine in not knowing he was doing something illegal but that if I see him do this again....to call. -- TRICK

Emily and her friend, Madison, got 2 bags full of candy!! Can you say sugar coma?? -- TREAT

It was a great night despite the timeline of events. So glad my friend, Moe, came with me and I'm super glad that Emily was able to bring Madison. I think it's always more fun when there are two people trick-or-treating and of course, 2 adults enjoying the excitement from the kids. Can't wait for next year!! -- TREAT (non-edible)

Not Even 2 Hours

It hasn't even been 2 hours and I've already added a couple things to my list! I can't believe it. At this rate...it really WILL take me 3 years to complete. But I just keep thinking that this is the road to happiness and the end to my "Groundhog Day" life.

xo

Reality

Wow, it's been awhile since I've put an entry in here. Don't you wish that sometimes you could wipe the slate clean? Well, without deleting all my past entries...I'm starting new right now. Why?

It's October 30th, 2008. 2009 is almost here. 2010 is my 10 year High School Reunion. I'm 26 (yes, still young). But I want to live my life! I'm setting long term goals right now. I don't want my response to be "same thing, different day" when someone asks me how I am or how my day is going. How freakin' sad is a response like that? You'd expect that from a 75 year old divorcee who has 20 cats in her house and is about 100 pounds overweight who knits in her spare time and can recite every detail of every soap opera on TV. Not someone in their 20's!!

I am starting (better late than never) to want to embrace my life and DO SOMETHING WITH IT. I had my daughter when I was 20 (she's the best thing that has happened to me, btw), I have devoted my time and energy 24/7 to her in her short 6 years on this planet but now I want to ~*LIVE*~ with her. Not just go through the motions of everyday life with her. I want to make her childhood years memorable. I'll be 30 in 4 short years...she will be 18 when I'm 38. Time is ticking & I don't want to have any regrets when she's walking out my front door all grown up!

My 3 year To Do List (in order of importance)...

*Cancel adoption

*Get to goal weight

*Join PlentyOfFish

*Debt free (except Mortgage)

*Book a trip with my daughter (How about Disneyland?!)

*Book a trip with my daughter (yes, this is listed twice -- we need to do this more than once!)

My "Eventually I'll Get It Done" List...

*Get a new front door

*Paint new front door same as exterior trim color

*Put crown moulding in master bedroom

*Finish my basement

Relapse

Last night I had a relapse with the whole eating thing.
I had finished my second week and didn't meet the weight loss goal I had set so I nibbled on some tostitos.
Not feeling so hot today and I haven't eaten enough but tomorrow I'll be back eating my healthy and balanced food allottments. I'm one of those people who NEEDS to exercise and I haven't been....it's been soooooooooooooooooo HOT! Today has been raining and even though I am exhausted, I need to exercise and get back onto my healthy kick.

I could still reach my weight loss goal for this week...a few days late. I can recover!

1 week 1 day

No, I'm not pregnant. It's the beginning to my new life. Not a diet. My NEW life.

I'm eating right, drinking all my water to keep my skin looking youthful, working out 30 mins everyday for the rest of my life, taking my Vitamins A,B,C,D & E (recommended by Dr.Oz). I'm even going to order his book about Staying Young for my birthday (which is coming up in 17 days).

At the moment I'm also reading Kathy Freston's book "Quantum Wellness" and bought the late Randy Pausch's book "The Last Lecture". And if those books don't inspire a person to change their life for the better...nothing will!!

Weekly Progress:
I've lost 3.2 pounds!
I've exercised twice in the last week!

Yay for me!!

Crappy Friday

Well, nothing has changed much on the home front. My sex life & dating life is non-existent due to fatness. I'm alright with that though...because I need to focus on me.

I so desperately want to be skinny that I have done really well with my eating this week which blessed me with a 2 pound loss & then mother nature reminded me that I am a woman. So I gained a little bit. Even though I ate some not-so-great (could have been worse) things last night, I'm back on track first thing this morning. I have also pasted a picture of myself on my elliptical machine to inspire my workouts.

Really need to work on getting more sleep though. I have come to the realization that going to bed at 11pm and waking up at 6am doesn't agree with my body. I am dead tired today. I need to go to bed earlier because by 11pm -- I'm too energized to go to bed. Then I could wake up earlier. I like going to bed between 9pm and 10pm.

Oh well.

I don't feel great so I can almost guarantee that I will be getting more than enough sleep tonight.

I'm off to fill my work day to make it go faster.

Weather @ The Cabin

I just checked the weather for the cabin next week. Starting on the 19th...ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES!!!!!!!! Which means it's going to be about 40(C) which is about 100(F). Perfect swimming weather!!!

I hope next week zips by soooooo freakin' fast!

7 More Sleeps!!

...until Emily and I head on our vacation to our cabin!!!!!!!! I can't wait!! It's like paradise. Except I do have some more unpacking in the house to do before we go. And then I have to pack for the holiday. Packing/Unpacking: story of my life at the moment. haha.

On the adoption front. Nothing happening. It's summer. I have to go for a physical when I get back. Also have an "About Me" form to fill out, it's more of an essay than a form. It's a relief to have finished my classes and received my certificate. That was the biggest hurdle. I'm still debating on whether I'm going to do straight adoption or foster to adopt.

I'm going to go shopping this weekend, and at the top of my list....a few good books to read for my vacation!!

I guess I should get back to work.
Thank goodness it's Friday!

Friday, July 04, 2008

Yuck!

So I got the sign.
I can't wait until we're totally moved into the new house and I can stock my cupboards with what I want. In other words, healthy food that will assist in my weight loss and not make it weight gain.

Anyways, the sign was indigestion. I haven't had that since I was pregnant with my daughter. Now I'm getting it again since I've gained some weight and my body is SCREAMING for me to take it off!

Don't worry body.....I'm going to. Soon. Very. Soon.

Overwhelmed in July

Well, I have my storage locker emptied and sitting in my basement. I have emptied my "storage room" at work in which I have been using to store my household stuff. Emily's bedroom is painted pink! I have unpacked, washed and put away everything in my kitchen...the only thing that's waiting to go into the kitchen is groceries!

All I need to do now is empty out the furniture (dressers, nightstands) and finish packing everything else up. I have family coming tomorrow and staying throughout the weekend to help me move furniture and set everything up.

And as of last night........I have a sick child. Fever, coughing until she throws up, ear infection. My poor baby! Of course we didn't sleep last night so I'm STILL tired. It's not her fault though. I'm going to spend the day at work trying to get caught up on everything on my to-do list.

That's my update for now. I'll get pictures up when the house is put together.

House

We are moving into our new house TOMORROW!!

We ended up getting a 42" TV with surround sound. The washer and dryer I ordered will be here next week.

I'll have to post pictures.

I'm FINALLY excited!!

Adoption Journey (summary)

This is more for my personal records (if I write it on paper, I'll lose the paper).

-Submitted Application to Drayton Valley Child Services
-Submitted Criminal Record Check
-Submitted approval for Child Welfare Check
-Received e-mail confirmation to attend "Parenting Class"
-Parenting Classes 9am - 4pm at the Provincial Building (June 7, 14, 21, 28)

May 29/08: Received copies of original application & confirmation by mail for parenting classes.

June 7/08: Session 1 & 2 completed. Today went by really fast and it was quite fun except for the lady sitting next to me who kept telling me on how spacing children by only 2-3 years instead of 6 would be a better choice. Tell someone who cares, lady!!

June 14/08: Session 3 & 4 completed. Lady kept her mouth shut about the age spacing which was nice (mind you I kind of ignored her). Half way there!

June 19/08: Bought a infant carseat for $40 and it expires 2011. I now have a reproduction/adoption time limit!

June 21/08: Session 5 & 6 completed. Second last Saturday. We're really bonding as a small class of 8. I've met great people and we all know we're going to stick together and keep communicating through our journeys. Next session we're all having a potluck together to celebrate that we're almost there...only a few hurdles left and we'll all have children (some of us will have more children...others will become parents for the first time). So exciting!! I also learned that a distant cousin of mine will be on our parent panel next week...too cool!!
